Campaign: Local Heroes

Local Heroes, a campaign to get people to actively support community growing groups and local food projects across the UK, is explained in this video by celebrity gardener and broadcaster Christine Walkden:

The Local Heroes campaign has now ended, but Community growing groups still need Local Heroes to take one simple action that will make a difference - for example signing up to a veg box scheme, visiting an event or workshop, offering specialist skills as a volunteer or providing business sponsorship. The more Local Heroes there are, the more other people will be inspired to become Local Heroes themselves. You can find out about Local Heroes and spread the idea via the social media links below:

Become Food Heroes

Buy fresh fruit or veg direct from a community food project, sign up for a veg box scheme, volunteer to help at harvest time... There's loads of ways to support groups and be a Food Hero. Plus some of the UK's top chefs have donated special recipes so you can cook up a treat.
